DOES MY WORKOUT CAUSE ACNE?

FOLICULITIS

How to get rid of red acne scars?

Have you ever noticed that you have mysterious bumps that appear after working out? Does sweat cause acne?

No, sweating does not cause acne. But, if you get bumps that look like acne from working out and/or sweating, what you may be experiencing is something called folliculitis.

Pityrosporum folliculitis or most commonly known as just folliculitis, is an infection of the hair follicle thought to be caused by the common cutaneous yeast, malassezia furfur.

If bumps tend to be itchy and they somehow come and go, this is a sign that it could only be folliculitis and not acne. They sometimes appear on the chest, forehead and gluteus area, they tend to be bumpy in texture and would mysteriously disappear without treatment, but most of time they tend to stay in the skin if untreated and leave scars along the way.

They are common amongst athletes, especially bikers.

The best way to get rid of folliculitis is to use antifungal ingredients like mandelic and ketaconazole.
